Boot Hill Gallery
After a brief, but successful stint at its first downtown location in Okotoks, Boot Hill has found its final home. The former Alberta Treasury Branch located at 41 Elizabeth Street has had a complete inside makeover and looks nothing like the bank it was a few months ago. In the words of three ATB staff members the transformation of their old workplace is absolutely amazing!!

What began as an idea a few months back by owners Bernie and Marg Brown soon became a reality with the help of an experienced and hardworking staff, a league of friends, family, and a fellow artist. A talented mural artist and good friend of the Browns, Mats Zoumer was instrumental in beautifying the exterior of the former building with a scene of running horses.

A meeting of the two artistic minds, Brown and Zoumer soon had a plan of action for the interior of the new building. With Zoumer’s mural experience, eye for color and Brown’s western themes, a new mural was created. A scene incorporating a rider on horseback, the Big Rock and the mountains now adorns the mezzanine level.

This scene provides a perfect backdrop for the different products available to shoppers. The addition of a full line of western clothing to the existing art gallery and gift shop has created a truly unique shopping experience. Artwork by resident pencil artist, Bernie Brown and stunning bronze sculptures by Vilem Zach and Gina Cohoe can be viewed as well as home décor featuring Durango Trail and rosewood furniture, Pendleton blankets, Phoenician glass, and western metalwork.

Beautiful western rugs by Skyhawk Rugs are also now available as well as the ever popular “Trail of Painted Ponies” and a line of collectors handpainted martini glasses. The Boot Hill’s competent staff also have years of framing experience for your custom framing requirements.

The upper level of Boot Hill now fills a void downtown by offering a complete line of western clothing featuring Wrangler, Cruel Girl, Cinch, Aura and Rocky Mountain jeans. George Strait shirts and Cripple Creek are just a few of the other clothing lines in addition to western boots that will be available.

When shopping, remember Main Floor for interior decorating and Second Floor for posterior decorating. With the combined efforts of Brown, Zoumer and Wayne Iverson, an experienced metal worker in the auto body business, the exterior renovations of the building are now in progress and will be completed shortly as well.

“An undertaking like this would not have been accomplished without the hard work of so many people,” remark the Browns. “Our staff’s support and loyalty since opening the gallery in Longview last April, the move in Okotoks from our home gallery to downtown last September and this last move is a true testament to all that can be accomplished when an enthusiastic group who are not above getting their hands dirty work together on a common vision.”

This newest addition to Downtown Okotoks is a must see for all residents and visitors to our town.
