Lucasia Ranch

Sharing our Western Heritage.

Lucasia RanchCome ride on this historic working cattle and horse ranch. Offering cattle drives, round ups or piece and quiet.

Take yourself back in time and imagine moving cattle over the picturesque Porcupine Hills of south-western Alberta. You will be surrounded by 4000 acres of vast open country, which comprises the Lucasia Ranch. Herds of elk and deer mingle with Texas Longhorns and Crossbred cattle, as well as Percheron, Appaloosa and Quarter horses. Our working ranch was established in 1881 by Colonel Lyndon, and stands as testament to a bygone era. Nearby a world recognized (UNESCO) heritage site, “Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump” in turn symbolizes how First Nations peoples harvested the mighty Bison for their food supply.

Our modern ranch home has two guest rooms with a shared bath. There is use of a sitting room, TV, VCR, all on a private floor of the ranch house. Or you may experience pioneer life and stay in our refurbished 1900s log cabin. Access to the Ranch is convenient from either the Calgary International Airport (1.5 hour drive) or from the U.S. Montana border crossing. Often our guests use our place as a staging area to drive to Banff, Waterton National Park,or Calgary for the day, returning the same day to the Ranch. No matter the ranch activity that you choose, you’re sure to enjoy your Lucasia Ranch Vacation.
