Town of Okotoks
Activities and Fun in Okotoks!
Okotoks delivers BIG in the arts and culture scene thanks to its performing arts venues, museum and galleries. Great shopping and unique eateries are available around town, particularly in our downtown Olde Towne shopping district that includes artsy Elma St…. even the bakery “94 Take a cake” is art.
Okotoks is famous for its events, such as Buskersfest, Taste of Okotoks, Chilifest, Show and Shine, Okotoberfest, Wizarding World of Okotoks and our winter event Light Up Okotoks. Annual sporting events include BMX competitions, pro rodeo, lacrosse, baseball, and hockey tournaments, to name a few.
Known as a major sports hub, Okotoks is proud to be the home of the semi-professional Dawgs baseball club at Seaman Stadium. Over 85 km of pathways wind through town and along the river, connecting neighbourhoods and business areas. There’s even outdoor fitness equipment in 3 locations along the trail.
There’s year round activities for every age group. In the warmer months enjoy our parks; playgrounds; an off-leash dog park; water spray park and skate park. In the winter months there’s outdoor skating rinks, toboggan hills, snowshoe and cross-country ski trails to continue enjoying Alberta’s great outdoors. For more family fun, check out our 18 holes Mini-Golf Course at Crystal Ridge or bowling in town.
Okotoks offers a golfers’ paradise at two golf courses: D’Arcy (18 holes) and Crystal Ridge (9 holes). Golfer or no golfer – both locations feature excellent food and beverages, plus patios to enjoy the sunshine.
An essential stop for any active day around town is a visit to the Big Rock Glacier erratic that gave our Town its name and is one of the world’s 500 cultural sites. Almost across the Big Rock location you can find Chinook Honey farm.
