Boundary Ranch

Adventures abound at Boundary Ranch; enjoy everything from a barbecue lunch at Rick’s Steakhouse to overnight trips in cozy backcountry camps.

Boundary RanchCombine horseback riding with white-water rafting to create exciting packages that can range from an hour to a full day. Trail rides range from one hour up to six days. For group entertainment anywhere from 20 to 1,000 folks arrange; a private rodeo, a down n’ dirty gunfight, western-themed corporate team building, meals and much more! Boundary Ranch is located half way between Calgary and Banff, just twenty minutes south on Hwy#40, otherwise known as the “Kananaskis Trail”.

Experience the wonder of Kananaskis Country on one of our “Back Country Pack Trips”, ranging from two to six days! Travel into a remote area of the high-country virtually unused by others. Our back country camp used for the three day trip is a 13 mile ride from the ranch. The trail meanders up the canyon of the “Evan Thomas Creek”, arriving at the camp located in a high alpine meadow just below the tree line at 7,000 feet.

Accommodation is supplied in comfortable wall tents with camp cots; meals are prepared in the well equipped kitchen tent. All gear and food supplies are packed in with horses in the same traditional manner that was started in the 1930’s by the owner’s father, Alvin Guinn. Every day is an unforgettable adventure while sampling new and different country; ride, hike, explore or just relax in the mountain sun.

For a spectacular hour and a half drive off the “Cowboy Trails”, just head west at Longview, on Hwy#541, towards the Highwood Pass to begin a trip that will stimulate your senses. You will travel through ranch country, the foothills and slowly climb to the “Highwood Pass” where you will connect with Hwy#40 or the “Kananaskis Trails”. Kananaskis Country is 4200 square kilometres of towering peaks, high mountain lakes and alpine meadows in the heart of the Alberta Rockies. Leaving the Highwood Pass you will gradually descend into a beautiful valley encompassing pristine glacier-fed lakes and streams, breathtaking vistas of untouched mountain peaks and virgin pine forest where you will find a wilderness playground. A little further down the road through the valley you will come across the Boundary Ranch Western Entertainment Centre. Stop in for a ride or lunch.

Boundary Ranch located on Hwy#40, 26 km S of Hwy#1. One hour from Calgary, 45 minutes from Banff and 1 1/2 hours from Longview.
